Liz Allison increased exposure on The Zone

The Zone has increased her exposure in the last 3 months. She is now on 3 times a week ( Monday 10:00-11am Wednesday 2-3pm Friday 8-8:30am).
We all know how much George loves NASCAR (NOT!). Just wondering who's driving the car over at the zone?

boring, the zone programming moves are bad and have been bad. Other than getting the plaster show, they have done nothing that has been very impressive. The morning show is doing well, but how much of that is the name factor of Wycheck and the FM signal and the cross promotion with the afternoon show. Sticking with Fox, the repeat hour, the bonus hour, the McFarland hour are all mind numbing programming moves. Then you start the weekend. It is all very soft programming.

Don't follow racing much, but love Liz. I listen to the Zone's racing coverage just for her. Makes interesting what seems to me like a dull sport. Liz was already on 3x a week. Giving Liz her own hour was a great move, the program with her and Bobby Hamilton should be syndicated. Previous poster sounds like a Fan employee. As for sticking with Fox, well, right now that's a Citadel, not a Zone decision, but look for chnages in the months ahead...

The zones made bad programming moves? Hmmm lets see.....Preds flagship......Kats flagship...... Vandy sports flagship....sounds pretty good to me.

Liz has advertisers that follow her wherever she goes. When they moved her outside of the live morning show hours, it meant they had ads for 10:00 and still could sell drive space too.

But Liz is very deserving. And a gold star to the Zone for allowing a woman to host a racing show.

Not really an increase in exposure, just different slots.

With this kind of committment to racing with Liz, makes you wonder about the loss of the weekend shows. Or was the loss of the weekend a result of the committment?

It is my understanding that they didn't have advertisers for the Sunday morning racing show. If you'll notice, any local shows the Zone does outside of drive times are sponsored. They don't just put on a weekend show and then sell regular time.

the preds, kats and vandy. Big whoop, those are the lowest rated threesome you could come up with. Add in Belmont and MBA football, whoopde freaking do. Try putting on the Titans and Vols and I'll be impressed. What's next, Sounds baseball and Fisk basketball?

Titans are on the sister station. Titans Radio is owned by the mother company. Preds and Vandy have large, loyal followings. Kats are building. Sounds would be a great addition. As for the Vols -- No fruit sucks like a Big Orange.

George isn't a big NASCAR fan, but understands its importance to a sports station and ratings. Still, you've never heard George and Liz on the air at the same time. Either George prefers that NASCAR be discussed outside of his hours, or they are one and the same person. Let's compare pictures... Okay, so its the "hours" one...

Not true, they we on the air together just last week. Maybe you should research before you speak, mister/ms all knowing.

No, what he really needs to do is find a board that discusses Nashville radio and gets humor, too.

He was making a joke!!!! I got it!!!

Liz -- an asset? I know from first hand info her NASCAR insider information comes from what she can glean from NASCAR.Com in the five minutes before she goes on. Remember, shes been fired by all the NASCAR TV rightsholders

The only thing you know is what you are making up. Get off the board and leave it to people who are here to discuss the truth.

"Get off the board and leave it to people who are here to discuss the truth."

Now that would be a first.....

the truth is ... lots of citadel people watch her get her "inside stuff" online just before she goes on.

What a disappointment. NASCAR season starts and no Sunday shows on the Zone to recap or preview or just vent. Where was Joe Williams this morning? Where was Davis and the night bunch? Been out of town a couple of weekends. Did I miss something? Has the Zone thrown out racing?

Yes poor Joe is gone......it's a shame

Which came first?

1. The loss of sponsors for The Speed Zone and The Racing Zone.

OR

2. The report from the consultant that said their local racing coverage was confusing and in dire need of a singular identity.

Excellent question. Now, can anyone answer the question??????

No consulant, that would have cost money, something Citadel doesn't do well. The truth lies somewhere in the middle of egos getting bruised, time changes, and and a race that was taken off the air 17 laps early. All of those things contributed to harsh feelings and bad communication and the lost of the Sunday racing shows.

No to the consulant thing.
Some truth to the ego thing.
No to the 17 lap thing (think it was more like 15 laps)
The sunday night show was a "paid" show. Terrell paid something like $200 a week. Town and Country paid Terrell. Station offered him a different time and he didn't want it. Truth is the station is making more money with Liz than ever was made with Joe and Terrell.
The Fan is trying to get the Predators, and in fact just might get it. Time will tell.

You have a good understanding of the way it works up on the Hill. You are right about more money with Liz, and Hamilton came with a sponsor as well. Too bad there's almost no local weekend coverage though, racing or otherwise.

I'd hate to see the Preds at the Fan. Same problems exist there as to why they didn't go with them last year. Why wouldn't they want to have most of their games on the station most radio listeners identify with sports? It helped them this year. And you can't find anyone as good or as knowledgeable about the game as Willy. People are used to changing channels to find their team with the NFL, NLB, college, why not radio for the NHL? Besides, most of us would rather listen to crickets than the Fan.

You will have to ask the Preds that. Seems they are thinking they can get a better deal across town. Powers that be are saying "Plan for life with out them on The Zone" I think the preds are playung with fire.

Playing with fire is what I was trying to say!

OK, a little truth.

Liz is a gossip hound. NASCAR is a Drama/Gossip sport.

The 2 o'clock hour is a horrible hour. Not because of the host, but because of the fixed topics. Why are the afternoon shows afraid of just going open phone?

If the Predators move to 106.7 they will regret it forever. They'll get zero coverage on 104.5

What issues they have with having two stations for the games far outweigh the issues they'll have if the leave 104.5 and 560. Those stations will give them zero coverage. You don't want to go there, really and truely don't want to go there. There is a reason NO one wants to be on The Fan, other than the signal, it would be the death nail on other local media. Don't go to the black hole.

You might as well book it
