I've noticed that almost all the posts are about sports talk or WKDF/Carl P. Mayfield.

What about other stations in town--WSM, WSM-FM, WLAC, The Rock, The River, WSIX, The Beat, 92Q and others? Why not threads about them? They have listeners, too!

Because the faithful of those stations are too busy listening to them to post on the web.

Actually, its because only thoughtfull well spoken people listen to talk radio and Carl P. has nothing to do but to post on here trying to rally his troops to help him rob another radio station of funds for his pathetic attempt at radio. Stop Carl P., enjoy your money and leave the radio to the people who are still creative and not droning miserable has beens.

It's not likely Carl P. Mayfield is in any way promoting himself on this board. If he wants another radio gig, he's lobbying PDs, GMs and consultants. This isn't the place to stage a comeback.

Those on this board who love him are people who are simply nostalgic for the "good old days" when KDF was a rock station.

Things change.

From the answers given, they already knew people didn't like the replay hour during daytime hours. They also said they knew people don't like Rome and Fox, but they spent a lot of time supporting them. Never once did they say, "We air this junk because our parent company cut a deal." They sounded like cheerleaders on the surface, but you could tell they also knew the truth. Asked some other tough questions, but skirted them well.

Yeah, they shoulda said "We stick that replay in there and the 2 o'clock hour so that we can accomodate Rome." If they could just dump his aaaaaaaa they wouldn't have to figure out what to do with single hours. I applaud them for wanting to talk with listners on air, but you either have to plan it to direct it away from the sore spots people already have with you, or be prepared to face the music openly and honestly. If I had gotten anything but a busy signal, I would have pounded them over Rome. "His ratings are getting better every book..." Sheesh! Stick anything in beween mornings and afternoons and it'll get residual numbers. Give me a break... from Rome.

If you got a busy signal when he was on the air why not call the office and ask to speek to him? Then you could pound him all you want about Rome and any other thing you want. Tell him the sore spots you don't like and make him face the music. Then come back and tell us what he said.

At least you are kind enough to invite me to call and talk to you.

You say they skirted them as well, what is the purpose of going on the air and fielding calls only to feed the listeners a piece of crap lie. Do they really think all the listeners will just take that crap hook line and sinker? Makes me want to turn the dial, which I did when Mr. Personality was on the air. The Zone is getting like coaches and sports management trying to feed us a load of crap. They think just because they tell us John McClain or Rob Fesmire or the General know their stuff, that we have to believe they really do. I don't buy it and not one else should either.

McClain DOES know his stuff, this is proven in Houston and throughout the NFL world. Not sure about the other two. On that I gotta run...

Not another whiney McClain comment! The guy has already well proven himself in markets and mediums bigger than anything we have here. He deserves better.

This board should change its name to "NashvilleCarlPMayfield/SportsTalkRadioRumors" since those seem to be the only topics that are addressed here.

Just a thought to the ones that complain about these type of boards not focusing on other stations than the Sports ones... Bring up another topic ??

How about Jack - Still going up the hill to fetch a pail of water or falling down and about to brake it's crown ?

Mix 92.9 - Will it ever be the same or will it have to Mix it up with the River to return to the promised land ?

The Buzz - Are Bob and Tom the only thing causing a Buzz or Does anyone really want the New Rock First ?

WSIX - How much longer will Gerry keep the 98 house in order, and Are Big D and Bubba the heirs to the House Throne ?

Jack FM was the biggest shock of 2005, how about a subject of What will be the biggest surprise of 2006 ?

What is the best station no one is talking about in the Middle Tennessee Area ?

Best 7p-Midnight Personality on the radio ?

There is a start for all of those that want to talk about other stations, here is your chance, fill up the board !

OK, I'll bite:

Jack-FM; Will lost its lustre in '06. These type formats often fizzle. It could happen here as well.

92.9 - will come back in the ratings without any major on-air changes--you may see some kind of big prize contest, though.

The Buzz--who cares? Its signal and ownership limits how successful it can be in Nashville.

WSIX--Gerry House can stay as long as he wants to. As for Big D and Bubba taking over for him, let's hope not. They're not that good.

Best 7-midnight personality on the radio--Rob Michaels. Nice, talented and underrated.

The only buzz Bob and Tom cause is a headache. Somebody ink those boys to a satellite deal and get them off the airwaves.

Bob & Tom haven't really made much of an impact in Nashville because they're on a Cromwell station that's not really a Nashville station. As long as they're relegated to one of the lesser players, they'll never get much of an audience.

At 12/27/2005 7:49 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wouldn't it make more sense for Clear Channel to find a place to put it's own property (Bob and Tom)on one of it's own stations ?? How do the ratings of John Boy and Billy compare to Bob and Tom in Nashville and elsewhere they share markets ??

Bob & Tom wouldn't get much of an audience if it were on Nashville's most powerful station. Nashville folks don't cotton to that foul-mouthed rude boy goings-on. And for all of the complain' that's been directed 102.9's way for the past few years about it even bein' on there, a better station would've canned it long ago. But them folks over there on Murfreesboro Road, they loves that stuff and think it's their God-given right to make sure Nashville is force-fed that garbage, 'cause they know better 'an us poe uneducated hillbillies about what we should be listenin' to. We jus' needs to grow up, and get real, and we'd be so-phis-ti-cated enuff to listen to garbage.

You hit the nail on the head regarding Bob and Tom. Just look at all of the complaints the Zone gets over Rome and Fox Sports. This market is really a cut above the usual radio !@#$. CC knows it doesn't work and that's why they're not doing Bob and Tom themselves. It's also why they don't do Fox Sports themselves. Why Citadel wants to put money in CC's pocket for Fox Sports is a mystery. With as many stations as Citadel has, they could have their own national sports programming (or are they trying to acquire one?)

Carl P. has become a bitter old man, he and Don Henley should start their a show toghether. As a young broadcaster, I used to respect and admire him, that was until I worked with...

So I guess the answer has turned out to be 1160 and 1200.

I'm not sure the WAMB/WKDA thing really counts since we have known for 2-3 months that it was in the works. But I guess the poster is technically right that it was the first format change--or move, in this case.

KDF will return to rock. Their country format has bottomed out. Look for Duke, Joe Elvis, Jimmy The K and Slats to return

At 1/09/2006 6:23 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wishful thinking on the part of those who yearn for the old days of 'KDF. Not gonna happen.

At 2/01/2006 10:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

For the first format change, for sure 1067.
What should happen?
KDF to Rock (there's only one game in town and it's not that great, it doesn't have to be. It's not hard to shoot fish in a barrel). If not KDF then for God's sake somebody!
Mix more main stream, give the River something to work with.
The Venus/Party ("The Penis" LOL), whatever they are, should just sign off forever, I mean how long do we have to listen to those guys beat a dead horse? Hellllloooo, one must have a signal to participate!!!
And Gerry fans or non Gerry fans, we must face it, he ain't goin no where!
And finally, somebody needs to do a Jammin Oldies format here, but right, not like QQK.

Hey, what's going on with this site? It hasn't been updated in decades. What happened to the other site? It disappeared as fast as it came? Now this one isn't doing anything. Is there another active site going on that I missed?

What's up with 104.5, its sounds like there is a big rift going on over there? Is there trouble in Zone City?

I'd like to see some threads about something besides the local Citadel stations and sports talk.

Phil Valentine is going to be syndicated--why no thread about that?

WLAC has a new morning host--why no thread about that?

The recent ratings were interesting--why no threads about that?

why don't you post your own blog?

At 2/07/2006 8:44 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

these radio blogs pretty much started out of the interest in the whole plaster thing. I think you could try to have a blog about other things, but it would either have very few posts or all of the posts would veer towards sports talk.

there should be a meesage board made where users dictate the topics. things related to blake fulton would be 60%, things related to Plaster would be 35%, people whining about all the fulton/plaster discussion would be 4% and 1% would be the rest.

This is where Blake haters and their careers migrate to die. Don't worry, Blake's career is right behind you.
